Wildbase Hospital

animal hospital

Massey University - Palmerston North

Wildbase is a new animal hospital based at Massey University Palmerston North. It houses a state-of-the-art native bird surgical unit and accommodation for administration staff on campus. This new building consists of three levels and is connected to the nearby clinic building via a covered link space and atrium element—this is a seismic link constructed with LVL beams and posts. The form and structure of the building allows for a flexible floor plate with no internal structure. Concrete floors were constructed out of pre-stressed concrete ribs with timber infills and concrete topping. The exterior is clad in vertical precast concrete sandwich panels on a 1500mm module that forms the structural system.
